David Langley Joins BCWB As Musical Director

We are pleased to announce that we have appointed David Langley as Musical Director of Bristol Concert Wind Band.

David Langley is an exciting young conductor based in South Wales and the West of England. In a short time David already has a wealth of conducting experience, having worked with a range of different ensembles, and conducting at venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre, Principality (Millennium) Stadium, Brangwyn Hall and Butterworth Hall. Underpinning this is a diverse experience as a performer, which has seen David perform at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, United Nations Building in New York City and the New Church in Delft, Netherlands.

As conductor of the Cardiff University Brass Ensemble David introduced Cardiff audiences to the serious Symphonic Brass repertoire, including works by Britten, Dukas, Janacek, Copland, Dove and Arnold. As a Brass Band conductor David led the Cardiff University Brass Band to a top 5 finish at the National University Championships of Great Britain in 2014, at the Butterworth Hall in Coventry. He has also directed both the Upper Rhondda Brass Band and Pontypool Brass to prizewinning performances.

By day David is a secondary school music teacher having recently gained a PGCE in Music at Bath Spa University. Outside of music he is a keen football, rugby and cricket fan and an avid supporter of the Welsh national teams!

David took on the role of acting musical director of Bristol Concert Wind Band in July 2016. We would like to thank him for all the hard work he has put in over the last few months and look forward to what 2017 has in store!
