This October, instead of our normal Autumn Concert, we are holding a very special Joint Concert with Redland Wind Band. As two of Bristol's leading wind band organisations we are coming together to celebrate the thriving community of amateur music makers in Bristol and the South-West.
But we share more than just a city with Redland Wind Band. In fact they started as the training band of Bristol Concert Wind Band. In 1996 we went our separate ways and became independent groups. Today they boast around 50 players, conducted by Steve Ellis. Their annual program consists of an indoor spring concert, an outdoor community concert and then various bandstand performances throughout the year, rounding it off with a Christmas concert in December.
But on 6th October we will be reunited, with individual sets by both bands, followed by a massed band programme that might just blow the roof off of the theatre!
Programme Highlights include:
RWB - Indiana Jones - John Williams
RWB - Laudate Dominum - Edward Gregson
BCWB - O Magnum Mysterium - Morten Lauridsen
BCWB - The Sorcerer's Apprentice - Paul Dukas
Joint - The Wind Racers - Jeremy Bell
Joint - West Side Story - Leonard Bernstein
Tickets are now on sale through the Redgrave Theatre's Box Office. Tickets are £10 for adults, £8 for non-playing members of either organisation, and free for under 16s. We hope to see you at this exciting event!
